Ancestry Launches Newspapers.com and U.S. Obituary Collection to Search Ancestors
Ancestry has been helping people
in finding their family history, developing innovative research tools, adding
new content to historical record collections for more than three decades. These
all help or enable people worldwide to find their unique family stories.
Now, Ancestry has launched
Newspapers.com obituary collection or upgrades U.S. obituary collection.
Ancestry is the world’s largest searched online archive of over 262 million
obituaries and death announcements worldwide, and it also has almost 1 billion
searchable family members.
Obituaries can provide details
about someone’s personal and professional life, hobbies, family matters,
personality, place of birth, marriage, family members, occupation, residence,
and can get more information about individual death. You can also get the
burial site location or the minister present during the burial. These details
will help you to break down major brick walls and open the door for research.
The Obituary is an important document and works as a starter kit for
discovering your family history.
New Newspapers.com Obituary
Collection
Newspaper.com is the biggest
digital newspaper archive and has 525+ million historical newspaper pages that
include obituaries from printed newspapers across America and beyond. We have
big-powerful new machine learning algorithms to search the obituaries within
newspaper.com and point out some key facts like names, relationships,
locations, and important dates.
The collection includes facts
from nearly 200 million newspapers.com obituaries. The new feature is available
on Ancestry for all subscribers, and the actual images are published on
Newspapers.com. Members who have Ancestry All Access or a newspaper
subscription will have a 1-click option to view the full obituary on the
newspaper. But some pictures can require an extra publisher subscription as many
newspapers want additional licenses to view the published content.
Upgraded U.S. Obituary
Collection
In this section, the collection
contains obituaries from 1930 to the present date. We regularly surf for
obituaries posted digitally, and we save some details from the obituary, like
the deceased name, dates, information, occupation, relationship, and save all
the information into our database to help our members discover them.
Using advanced machine learning
algorithms, they can extract all family members’ names in the online obituaries
and their connection with each other. The advancement of these technologies has
helped Ancestry grow and collect over 400 million obituaries. With this
technology, our members receive more search results and record hints while
examining the U.S. Obituaries Collection. The new upgrade also helps people to
add more members or people to family trees from the obituary.
